Two Chicago men have been charged in connection to a shooting that Killed a local rapper on Friday night in Calumet City.
Vonno, real name Jevante Johnson, was a member of Chicago’s hip-hop group Stain Gang, which includes members Sago, Mally Mal, Zo Bandz, and RK Da King. He was 20-years-old.
The two suspects, Jamal Hoare (r), 22, of Dolton, and Jacob Wilson (l), 19, of Calumet City, were each charged with first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery. Johnson, 20, allegedly set up a drug deal with Hoare and Wilson, Calumet City Police Chief Edward Gilmore said. He got in the back of their vehicle about 8:45 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of 157th Street and said he was robbing them, Gilmore said. The person sitting next to Johnson in the back of the car pulled out a gun and shot him, Gilmore said. Another person in the vehicle was also hurt in the shooting. Johnson, of the 300 block of Oglesby Avenue in Calumet City, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died later Friday night, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. An autopsy Saturday indicated Johnson died from multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
