Passengers With Stolen Passports On Missing Malaysian Flight Identified, Were Seeking Asylum (DETAILS)

While fleets from at least a half dozen countries search for a missing Malaysian airlines flight that was on its way to Beijing, Interpol has confirmed the two passengers using stolen passports were not terrorists.   Two Iranians (pictured above) who used the aforementioned stolen passports, were identified as Pouri Nourmohammadi, 19, and Delavar Seyedmohammaderza, 29. The 19-year-old is believed to have planned to seek asylum in Germany.   When Nourmohammadi did not arrive in Frankfurt, his concerned mother called Malaysian authorities to help identify him.    “We are in contact with his mother,” Khalid Abu Bakar, the inspector general of the Malaysian police, said at a news conference on Tuesday, adding that Mehrdad was “not likely to be a member of a terrorist group.”
Interpol secretary general Ronald K. Noble said Tuesday the new developments make  terrorism a less likely cause of the plane's disappearance  but that did not allay concerns about the ease of travel involving stolen passports.
As this is an active case, we’ll keep you updated on the latest as it comes in.
